It's a social feature, not really part of the game. Lets say you have a friend, Bob. @bob what's your X and Z? We could meet up at Daret Bob would reply @yourname I spawned in Yazuac, I'll be there in a few minutes! Then you could say... @bob Cool! I'll just loot some chests. These messages don't relate to roleplay or local chit-chat. Just a feature to ping your friends no matter where they are on the map. I understand... I guess I just wanted to make it similar to using the elves' modified mirrors for communication. It requires a small amount of energy, but works over long distances. Maybe instead there could be a delay of 30 seconds or a minute between communication to simulate the message being mailed? I dunno. I don't really like it being free. PM isnt really a gameplay feature, its meant to be an out of character way to chat to other players. also, if you want to whisper it should be like, a 2 block radius, not a 1o block one. if we wanted to use the elves long range communication it would have to be a bit underpowered.

But what would stop players from using it for gameplay? Maybe mods could see PMs and regulate their use to prevent players from using it for roleplay aspects?

We probably won't strictly enforce it, just give players a gentle reminder if they're overusing the feature for in-character chat.

Thanks. we REALLY need to come up with a GIANT list of ALL the planned features of the rpg server. this included.

I think the staff has one in order of priority... which speaking of, if there is a small feature that is low on the priority list that I could attempt to do while you other devs work out the complicated stuff, I'd like to have some plugin to work on while finishing up my learning of Java. If possible, just PM me the details!
