After reading most of the forums and stuff here, i realised that no-one ACTUALLY states what time Minecraft Alagaesias world is set in. i mean the game play, like, before the fall of the riders, during the war with galbatorix or after, where no story is set. Knowing when the server is set is very important, as things would change, sometimes dramatically, in different times. If im being totally stupid and everyone already knows when the server is set, a moderator should just remove this post but if not, id like to hear peoples thoughts on the matter.

We're not quite sure either. Overall, the map is set during the golden age before the fall of the Riders, however there are smaller bits and pieces from other time periods, such as Eragon's time.

i was thinking maybe after the fall of old galby, that way we can do what ever we want and not contradict the story, however... before the fall of the riders makes more sense, so yheah.

so would you add Inzilbeth, the city that Galbatorix grew up in and destroyed? We might, but currently we're only working on cities that have good descriptions or main themes, such as most elven and dwarven cities and many human cities. We'll have to examine the location and see if anything else important is too close as well :-) Thanks for the suggestion, we'll write that up now to look at again later!

Well if it is set before the fall of the riders, many of the structures that Eragon sees will not be there, for instance Horsts workshop in Carvahall.

Exactly, which is why we're not focusing on any one time in particular, instead we take the best elements of each period. “People assume that time is a strict progression of cause and effect, but ‘actually’ from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it’s more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly… time-y wimey… stuff.” – The Doctor.

Or another dimension, which we perceive as linear because we don't have the ability to fully comprehend it

I think it could be after the fall of Galbatorix but quite some time after, so cities had time to rebuild and the next generation of dragon riders has been trained and brought peace to Alagaesia. That way, everything is solved nice and tidy. Except I doubt that Carvahall was ever rebuilt after being destroyed. :/

I don't doubt for a moment that the villagers wouldn't rebuild their town.

Wow, I really need to reread Inheritance But still, it wouldn't be the same as described in the beginning of the book. Just to clarify I'm totally not against it because I would love to see Carvahall, but I'm just putting it out there. I guess MCA will be taking creative license there
