I had a suggestion for the roleplay server, and it didn't really fit into any other category, so voila! New thread. What do you think of modifying ghasts to make them Spirits? They would change color and fly around Alagaesia in large groups, performing random acts of magic sometimes. I think it would be a great addition and be cool to encounter while on an adventure. just make sure they can kill you if provoked. Makes it more interesting

That's a very interesting idea! We'll certainly look into that.

Phew, the AI for that might be kinda hard, I suppose you could use a chunk of the Enderman AI where if the player looks directly at them they would attack. Only the attack would insta kill

Well no I was thinking more along the lines of if you tried to resist their will or hurt them, then insta kill. unnecessary killing is... Unnecessary! xD The AI wouldn't be too complicated, the most difficult part would probably be the swarming behavior of the group as a whole. Otherwise it would all just be flight to randomly selected points and random times to perform random acts of magic. Oh, and, I don't think Alagaesian spirits have eyes to look into anyways!

can zombies be urgals?

I think that's in the works, unless having multiple player races is implemented, at which point there would be a portion of the players that are urgals. There's a thread on that here: mcalagaesia.boards.net/thread/63/added-character-racesIf the developers decide not to implement this feature, pig zombies would most likely be modified into urgals. The nether and end are both disabled on the server, so the developers are trying to only use mobs that won't be encountered in the wild.

Correct - however even if we do have some players as Urgals, we'll still have randomly spawning hordes of aggressive urgals. These probably won't be affiliated with the otherwise usually peaceful but warlike Urgal folk. These could ambush players during their travels, adding to the risk and excitement of exploration and adventure.

That'll work, but Urgal clan chiefs should be able to control these "wild" urgals as well, since even wandering tribes of urgals respect the chiefs. Just realized I said "pig zombies" instead of zombie pigmen. :/

Since this has become a thread for mob ideas, my next suggestion: werecats! They would wander Alagaesia randomly, be able to change from cat form to baby villager form at will, attack viciously if provoked, perform tidbits of random magic here and there, and rarely tell a player some riddle that, once solved, holds important/useful info about something in the world. They would be indistinguishable from cats, but much faster and more powerful than normal. The riddles would just be selected randomly from a list of them written by the devs.
Lemme know what you think.

If you make it far enough into the game, you might become a chief and could command an urgal army.

Perhaps we could use wolves for something... And Witches for shades...

Well there would have to be some type of way to detect Shades, because if you got in a fight with one it should be almost certain death. Also they would have to be fairly rare, witches are rare already, but they would have to be extra rare. But I really like the idea of Werecats to! Remember that with the 1.8 update it added rabbits, not sure what they could be used for though...

are endermen going to be Ra'zac? I would think that Enderman would be the model for Kull, seeing as they are about two feet taller than most other creatures in the book.
