could i do some of the textures for the dragons? i could even (attempt) to make a full alagaesia texture pack! You sure can! Can't wait to see it if you do! I'll have to give you a short list of retextures that need to be done, but otherwise it's basically the vanilla pack. Because it's the default pack for the server, we don't want to give players a pack that they might not like, thus it'll be mostly vanilla with some retextures. When the default pack is complete, we'll look at adding on to other popular packs (if permitted, of course) to make them suitable for MCAlagaesia. Just to clarify, there will be differently colored dragons right? Like I could have a red dragon, and someone else could have a blue one. Haven't seen anything on this, but I thought it was obvious enough that nobody needed to mention it :/ unless it can't be done, at which point darn.

Long answer: Different colours of dragons are possible with RandomMobs (A feature of Resource Packs), but as the name suggests, the mob texture is random. There's no way to keep a dragon's colour. For example, if I log out while my dragon is purple, it could be red when I log in again.

Is it possible to modify RandomMobs so that when a dragon is spawned it checks for the value of a color attribute stored on the dragon, so that it chooses the appropriate texture for that color? It's very inconvenient that they all have to be the same color :/ I was kind of hoping to elaborate on this idea, like the riders' swords being the same color as their dragon and stuff. Would be really cool if you developers could develop that Keep me posted on updates on this topic!

Make a new thread in the Roleplay Server section. Can't wait to see the textures!

Suggest anyway! We can use all the ideas you've got! As for the armor, I am not sure about this, but I know that you can dye leather armor into different colors... Could this possibly be what you heard about? (I'd be pretty sure that you could do this with MCEdit because you can do it in game in minecraft.)

Changing the texture of items has the same problem, so no coloured rider swords either.

Awesome, can't wait! You can post it on these forums, and anywhere you choose - You're free to upload it on PlanetMinecraft or the Minecraft Forums if you want to. In fact, that would serve as advertisment for MCAlagaesia! Also, when you say "32-bit vanilla", do you mean a 32*32 pixel resource pack? As opposed to the default 16*16 pixels?

You can set the colour of leather armour, but I don't see how that's possible with other armour types. You see, there's still only one texture for it. We'll have to do some research into this. Maybe one day, Mojang will make it possible for textures to be changed, set and altered by the server without the use of a resource pack... We could easily change the hue of items... Ahh, the future!

Since we are not using the Ghast model for the Dragons now, we could use them for the Lethrblaka, and use something else for the Raz'zac, maybe skeletons or something.

I had suggested the Ghasts be used as Spirits. They wouldn't work as Lethrblaka anyway because they don't have the right shape. I think the Ra'zac will just have to be completely killed off on this server.

I cannot wait for that day... :-/it is very irritating that resource packs can't have multiple resources for each image (i.e. block(1).png; block(2).png) that could be interchanged either randomly or by spawning the item with modified NBT tags, etc. I guess for now Riders will just have to deal with it. *sigh*

I just assumed that we would include the Raz'zac because they played such a large part in the books.

It's still totally something that should be considered, but the thing is that until minecraft allows for custom entity models or multiple textures for one block/entity we are kind of limited as to what creatures from Alagaesia can be created. See the thread "Ghast Spirits" for a more in-depth reply on this topic, because it might still be doable. If the developers find a way to do it, Lethrblaka will most definitely be added. However, until that time we will have to do without
