so condering that we are becoming popular now, we should probably start on a server resource pack if anyone has any ideas/suggestions go ahead. I can pull together quickly a non copyright breaching custom dokucraft pack within a few hours.
for the time being i can spearhead this area if need be.

I think it would be best to use a variety of medieval packs as inspiration for it, and maybe even use a few of their textures, but a lot of it should be custom so it fits our needs exactly. Also, there is a lot of modification needed for mob textures and such that will need to be custom. It is a lot more work, but we can break it up and everyone can contribute. I think that there is another thread in the RP server section that lists the needed textures. I can make a thread in that section for people to post their individual texture files for submission so we can put together a texture pack. I'll make a list of the different textures needed and their style for anyone to help out with. EDIT: The thread referenced above will be used rather than a new one, here is the link: mcalagaesia.boards.net/thread/81/required-textures?page=1&scrollTo=1502

We're planning to have most items, blocks and mobs untextured. Only the ones that we need to change will be in the resource pack, which will be 16*16 and have a similar look and feel to your default minecraft. The vanilla textures will take over for anything that isn't textured in the pack. This keeps file size small and makes use of a resource pack that most people will be perfectly fine with - vanilla. This will be the default pack, which will be automagically downloaded when players first join the server.
There will be other packs that users can download on the site, such as a dokucraft style pack or sphax style pack. These will work like the default pack - only the required textures will be included, and the main resource pack needs to be downloaded separately and placed under the first.
This way, there'll be no copyright infringements. We're only distributing textures that we've actually made.

Less people use each non-vanilla pack. Even if only 33% of people use Vanilla, 3% would use Sphax, 5% use Dokucraft, 2% use , etc. There'll always be options to download other MCAlagaesia supported packs, but the vanilla one will be the default.

Make resource pack with custom sounds. What kind of sounds? like swords clashing and dragon roaring? sounds cool. we could also have more water textures, ive seen one pack where it makes particles whenever you put a bucket of water down.
