Since this roleplay section is disappointingly lacking in posts, and the server has been confirmed to be more RPG-based than roleplay, I have taken it upon myself to create my own roleplay! This is something I've tried a few times before, but with little success (either from nobody joining or from players becoming bored within the first few posts) and so I'm hoping to do better this time. Also, isn't Alagaesia just a word you want so much to dive into? Here are some guidelines for roleplay:'
- Stay within the confines of the lore. Don't do things that don't fit in with the time period or setting! Good resources for Inheritance lore are Inheriwiki, Eragon's Guide to Alagaesia, and the Inheritance Almanac. The first is a website, but the other two are books available for purchase.
- Do not god-mod! This is when you overpower your character to a point where they are invincible or godlike.
- Do not powergame! This is when you do an impossible move, or never allow your character to lose or be hit. You are also not allowed to suggest you definitely hit or succeed with your attack - allow the target's player to decide whether they are able to evade it in some way (keep it within reason, though - no grabbing their sword by the blade and sending it stabbing into your attacker's heart. No, just ....... no.).
- Do not metagame! This is when you gain information by OOC (out of character) means and then make your character suddenly aware of it IC (In character). However, this is alright if it is information that your character would obviously have access to.
- Separate out your OOC chats and comments with brackets so it is clear what is actually happening and what is a joke or just a remark made by the player: (), (()), [], [[]], {}, {{}}...
- A few more things might be added if I discover I missed something. I won't notify you if this happens, though, so keep on your toes!
And also, a few things specific to this roleplay.
- You may only kill another character with their player's consent or if provoked! If by provocation, then the character must be given at least one chance to escape.
- If a mental battle begins, you may write shorter posts, but take it to PMs until your mental battle is resolved.
- Try to post around 2-3 paragraphs per post, and be as descriptive as you can. Also, if you join, please do try to post at least a couple of times a week (no double-posts, though). If you are involved in an event with two or more other people, try to post frequently (don't leave the others behind!) so as to not hold the others back and so the roleplay can advance.
- You may have up to 3 characters if you really think you can manage them all, but only one may be a Dragon Rider.
- If playing a new Rider, you should not know about Eldunari, proper raising and care of dragons, etc.... (Don't think the egg is a stone, though - the Riders have been re-established enough at this point that it is common knowledge.)
- Don't advance time too much - by a few minutes at the most. I'll periodically put updates on the current time in bold in my posts.
- Do not place yourself in a place of political power or any other role without consulting with the GM (Zaiarkai) first!
- Balance your skills! For example, a single character should not be strong, fast, and mentally/magically proficient in exuberent amounts. No, if you have one very prominent skill, lower the others. Our huge friend Belgabad wouldn't be the fastest dragon in Alagaesia, would he? All the same, skills can develop and change during the course of your character's quest.
- Do not advance your dragon's growth too quickly. Dragons didn't learn to breathe fire until they were around six months old, and Saphira for example was still relatively small for a dragon at that time. All the same, dragons never stop growing - the continue to grow, if at a somewhat slower rate. Which brings us to the next thingy:
- Time is not equal between our world and theirs. While many roleplays may stretch to be a bit longer OOC than they would be IC, we can generalize one OOC week to be an IC month. This might change according to feedback.
- I will probably do something important to progress the story every month or so, depending on feedback. If a lot of players want this to be more of a casual roleplay, I can adjust to that as well.
- Keep on your toes, as I may alter these rules without notifying anybody!
Phew, that's a bit long already, but I don't think we're even half done with this opening post, haha! From a few hints in the previous guidelines, you could have guessed that this roleplay is set in a time where there are more than just a handful of Riders. That is correct, and this roleplay is set many years after the events of the Inheritance Cycle. Eragon has re-established the Riders, most of which travel frequently between Alagaesia and their city in the East. Eragon is still alive and the leader, although he is a bit more passive and tired than he has been previously. Eggs are still ferried between the two lands as well, searching for Riders.
The year itself is 8501 AC (After Creation), the five-hundredth year since Eragon left Alagaesia to reform the Riders. Nasuada's descendant, Reronad Ligridsson, rules over Alagaesia with gentle care. Arya still rules as leader of the elves in Ellesmera. Gardsvâg Anuksson is king of the dwarves under Farthen Dur. The Urgals have no clear leader, however there is still the rumor - which nine-and-ninety out of a hundred of the peoples of Alagaesia do not know - that under the Barrows of Anghelm lies in state the one true Urgal king, Kulkarvek.
Remember, all four races are now able to become Dragon Riders due to their new inclusion into the pact in 8001 AC (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just going off of Inheriwiki for everything and I've been writing this for a while -_-). Below is a character skeleton to post at the beginning of your first post in the roleplay.
Name: Place your character's name here.
Title(s): If applicable.
Race: Human, Dwarf, Elf, or Urgal. Eh, what the heck, Werecats too - but you might want to wait for some non-Rider characters to be made first, as I bet any Rider players will spend a fair amount of time in the castle..
Rider? Yes or no. If yes, fill out the subfields.
-Dragon Name:
-Dragon Age:
-Dragon Scale Color:
-Dragon Eye Color: Usually the same as the scale color.
Age:
Place of Origin:
Occupation: If applicable.
Appearance: This can be either a description (5 sentences minimum) or a picture (picture must be of acceptable quality and have color - if it doesn't have color, you must elaborate on your character's hair color, eye color, etc...)
Basic Statistics: This is just a guideline for you to follow. This can change as the roleplay progresses, but try to keep it balanced! You have twenty. points to spend.
-Strength:
-Speed:
-Mental Defense/Strength:
-Magic:
-Intelligence/Cunning:
You may also want to fill one out for your dragon if you have one.
Brief (or long!) bio: Must be 2-3 paragraphs at the least. Include details about your character's childhood, path through their life so far, and current status.
Current belongings:
Oh! Also, you don't have to write out your training scenes if you're a Rider during the roleplay, but do try to keep a reasonable pace for your learning.
I'll put my own skeleton here:
Name: Inderen Dylensson
Title(s): Elf-Friend/Vinr Alfakyn
Race: Human
Rider? Not yet, but he will be shortly, so I'll fill this out anyway:
-Dragon Name:
Viskr (Although unhatched and thus unnamed at present)
-Dragon Age:
Presently? Unhatched
-Dragon Scale Color: Egg color is a deep black, and the hatched dragon can be expected to have the same color of scale.
-Dragon Eye Color: Probably black.
Age:
Seventeen
Place of Origin:
Ceunon
Occupation: Egg-carrier
Appearance: Inderen has dark, wavy brown hair that falls about halfway down his neck. His eyes are a dull grayish-green and his skin is somewhat pale. He is not chubby but yet has not much defined muscle. Often wearing boring brown attire, he sometimes wears a dark red cloak. His nose is slightly hooked and his eyebrows are thick.
Basic Statistics: This is just a guideline for you to follow. This can change as the roleplay progresses, but try to keep it balanced! You have twenty points to spend.
-Strength:

Brief (or long!) bio: In a hurry can't write this right now
Don't roleplay until I start it
