Hey guys!We have two possible ways to distribute items on the RPG server. Option one is to have chests spawn in predefined areas. These chests will contain random loot that relates to where they are found. For example, you might find pork and beef in a butcher, but you could also find chicken. Option two is to have items randomly spawn in their drop form. You can see them from a distance and you will be able to walk up to and collect them without interacting with a chest. For example, you might find some pork or beef sitting on the counter in a butcher. A third option is to have a mixture of both, each where it's best suited!

I would like a mixture of both.

We can now also have villagers selling you items for a small amount of gold, so there's actually three options. I'll update the post later! :-)

What's the role play server's ip? The RPG server isn't open to the public yet, but we'll tell you when it's ready. :-)

I vote chests -drops add a ton of lag to the server when in large quantities and they despawn so you cant acquire them from a long distance anyways- However this method takes away ALL chances at an economy

so are you hoping to have an Economy? because just spawning items in makes that pretty hard

I'll update the post later! :-) Whats the point in trading when you can just pick items up from chests? For a roleplaying server, it would be great to have an economy with crowns and villager trading would add to that but having items on the ground would,as everyone said, make that nigh impossible.

I would like chests, is there a way to make them auto resupply themselves? But don't make the same drops in the chest over and over. We don't want people camping the chest with diamonds.
The drops would be nice, but Pixela stated why it wouldn't work.

The drops would be nice, but Pixela stated why it wouldn't work. Yes, chests will automatically restock themselves every now and then with similar, but random loot. For example... - A chest at a blacksmith might spawn a half durability wooden sword and some leather leggings, but spawn a stone sword and five arrows next time.
- A chest in a farmhouse might spawn a hoe and wheat, but next time it could spawn some apples.
- A chest in a dungeon might spawn a diamond sword one time, but it might spawn iron armour the next.

Would the same variability/randomness apply to the items sold by villagers or the ItemStacks dropped naturally?

Just picking between chests and item drops, I would have to vote chests because it would allow you to choose more easily what you could take, and not accidentally pick something up that you don't want. But I would also strongly support the implementation of an economy in which items can be bought from traders or other players, as long as the prices are reasonable and there is still some random loot to be found.
