the current rank system on the server is lacking. i propose a new rank system, based on using MCApoints as a currency. points can still be earned through building, but they can also be earned through voting and donating to the server rank | MCApoints | new | 0 | Builder | 20 | Specialist_builder | 35 | Grand_builder | 50 | Master_builder | 65 | Terraformer | 80 | Architect | 80 | Grand_architect | 100 |
as well as these purchasable ranks, there will be some additional ranks for events that occur also Rank | Event | winner | winning a build contest | oops | server/staff accident effects them | plug | advertising server to other players |
i have not included staff ranks in this because they can just be the usual eg. mod admin chat mod ETC.

Sooo.... People could vote their way onto the private build server? no staff would be distinguished from members, they would need to apply to become staff, all they would need to do is write a bit about themselves on the forums and put there plot ID's in it like a resume. If a non staff member manages to get more than 50 points then they could possibly have access to the build server, but not building permissions. so in essence the would be: [guest] builder[ member] builder[ staff] builder
thus the difference between a guest and a member would be an account on the forums, and the difference between a member and staff would be an accepted staff application.

thus the difference between a guest and a member would be an account on the forums, and the difference between a member and staff would be an accepted staff application. Instead of voting for points, there could also be a time based ranking system, like 15 hours logged and you get the "[guest]builder" rank. you would still need to prove your worth in building, but time also shows who's dedicated and who's not if this were implemented there would have to be a clause so that afk players were not counted, and afk would have to be enabled for all players. also AFK machines would need to be banned. Also on there could just be regular ranks too, like MCAlageasian, Count, Duke, and so on, also accounted for in time. These could award you the ability to own more "Properties" (Areas of land in large cities or towns that players could store items, also mansions and such) on the RPG server.

I still like the current system, even though it does require a lot of building on the server. In addition, I think that since this is such a small community right now the staff does notice if you are participating on the forum and even how active you are on the build server. It's purely subjective how you get the points right now, so it isn't as if admins don't consider things like this when giving points to builders. I also don't like the idea of getting points through server donations... buying your way onto the private build server would just have negative impacts aside from paying for server maintenance. I don't really see the benefits of the new system outside of making it easier to get onto the build server. I probably misinterpreted what you are trying to say, but it just seems a little too much for a build server that will eventually be completely replaced by an RPG server...

Its my personal opinion that we dont use donating of voting to be a way to improve your ranks. this just means that people who have money can be up higher than some people who have spent hours upon hours on the server. as of now the rank system is totally fine.
nice work on the spawn though morratay (hope i spelt that right)

Those who donate to support us, however, will get a nice shiny name and some purely visual perks. Otherwise, where's the incentive to donate? Threatening to shut down the server or downgrade the hardware doesn't work. We've know some people who've tried :-)
