Yes the economy idea would be perfect, also maybe have plots in some Trading cities like Teirm or Narda for players to buy and build shops on.

Just picking between chests and item drops, I would have to vote chests because it would allow you to choose more easily what you could take, and not accidentally pick something up that you don't want. But I would also strongly support the implementation of an economy in which items can be bought from traders or other players, as long as the prices are reasonable and there is still some random loot to be found. There'll be no mechanic for player trading. Instead we'll allow players to decide their own prices and trades, however we will encourage trading among players. Chests are a must and have always been planned. There's very little chance of picking up items you don't want them with the item drops method. We won't have hundreds of different items on the same block, just a few of the same item spawning every now and then, similar to chests.

I see your point concerning the item drops, and I wouldn't be opposed to them so long as they are used somewhat infrequently, because IMO, having items getting dropped everywhere would seem fairly... Unorganized. I don't know if others feel the same way but having frequent item drops would cause my minecraft OCD to seriously kick in.

Drops won't be random, they'll be in specific locations such as a sword spawning on an anvil in a blacksmith or some raw pork spawning on a stone bench in a butcher.

well then in that case, I would love to see items spawning as drops. I guess it does add somewhat of an extra aspect of realism, considering that nobody really keeps everything they own in chests.

I shouldn't be able to walk into any butcher shop and grab meat off the counter, it should be somewhat unusual. And unethical considering you would be stealing some butcher's meat. Unless it is Sloan. Always steal meat from Sloan.

For example, you must throw some gold onto the item before it becomes pick-up-able. The gold disappears and you get the item - easy transaction!

So would this only happen in shops without an actual player to run them? Or are you not planning on players having jobs?

Yea, I believe that the server is going to be more of an adventure-running around killing stuff type server. But I still think it should be possible for players to set up shops on plots in cities like teirm.

Ah. So would this only happen in shops without an actual player to run them? Or are you not planning on players having jobs? Originally, there were no plans to allow players to create their own shops or houses. Yea, I believe that the server is going to be more of an adventure-running around killing stuff type server. But I still think it should be possible for players to set up shops on plots in cities like teirm. If implemented, players won't be able to build their own houses or shops, they'll simply buy an empty one that's already set up to prevent style clashes and suchlike.

Alright. Well that makes sense, most people don't build their own houses in Alagaesia. But there should definitely be a way for players to set up shops.

Well, in the case of style clashes it would be somewhat difficult to do so to the extreme because you would be limited by materials. But i agree with person55. I'd like to be able to set up a house and shop to stay in between my adventures ;-)

You can choose the schematic you like most and gather the resources for your shop or house. The structure will slowly build itself depending on how much wood, sticks, stone, clay and bricks you feed it.

Our first priority is to get the dragons flying!
