Will dragons still have wings as hatchlings? they will, but they will only move in the second and third stages of their growth. We can texture the wings on the body of the dragon hatchling, but we can't change the model of the silverfish, so the wings might not look very good. We'll have to see how things turn out! :-)

we should make the Ra'zac wither skeletons, it makes perfect sense. they are slighty taller than other mobs, so they are unique and they give off wither poisoning, which is like their breath. maybe we could alter it so it affects players from over a block away? I think we can confirm wither skeletons as Ra'zac! Their appearance should require very little tweaking to be plausible, especially considering the Ra'zac have a bony exoskeleton! We can most certainly alter the wither effect so it seeps ahead of the Ra'zac. Probably 5 or 6 blocks, even more. When we do this, we'll probably reduce the damage it causes but add extra debuffs such as slowness and weakness to simulate the reduced mental performance of players locked in it's grasp. Dwarves will be less affected by this, and Elves will be immune altogether.

If the oil is a splash potion, then throwing it on a block should also coat that surface so if anyone touches that surface they are burned. But I like the Seithr oil covered item idea. For that, we'll have to store information in the block itself. No easy way to do that quickly comes to mind, so we'll have to think about that. We could store blocks in a HashMap, however a server reboot would wipe that data. We could also use a config file, but that creates unnecessary read/write cycles, putting strain on the HDD/SSD. We'll be sure to write this down and look into it more, when we get the dragons flying. Minecraftthing. Could you make a new block that is just one pixel layer thick and acts like vines where it can be placed on any surface? This would then make it a right click to place action. Pretty much like Seithr oil being an item and a block. You wouldn't be able to throw it, because tracking the path and seeing where it hits and on what surface to determine how to place the layer of Seithr oil is probably very laggy (that said Seithr oil probably won't be common) but that would be cool too if it worked.

It'll be possible to see where it lands without tracking the projectile. After that, we apply the effects to the blocks it sprayed on. As for blocks: Serverside, we can't create blocks, mobs, items, etc, only change the properties of ones that already exist in the game. We could use some type of carpet for this, perhaps invisible. We'd have to make it so you can wash away the oil with a bucket of water or some such.

Well, you can find the harmless oil (rarely) in chests or trade with villagers (for a heavy price). Then you must find the incantation for a spell and then speak these words, which will perform a blood sacrifice (half your health) whilst holding a bottle of the harmless oil to give it flesh-eating properties.

Cool! But what about the whole placing it on any surface? It would be inconvenient to only be able to put it on the floor :/

Carpet is the easiest way to do it, but we won't go for the easiest way. We're thinking of splash potions, which will of course be able to go on the ceiling and walls as well as the floor.

No, I was expecting for you to do it with splash potions, but won't the layer of Seithr oil need a block model? I thought you might make some block model that can be on any surface, and then when a splash potion hits a surface that block will be placed in that space with the texture on the correct side.

We could simply store the "blockHasSeithrOil = true/false" in a hashmap. When a player steps on a block, we retrieve the information from the hashmap and either leave or damage the player. Serverside, we wouldn't be able to add any new block models. The oil is clear anyway, so we wouldn't need a texture for it.

It seems kinda cruel that you are going to give no notification to a player that they are about to step in a puddle of flesh-eating acid.

Yes, this is abou the fair play thing again. maybe you could smell it? i mean by that that it would emit some faint particles. so the server searches for blocks that are coated with the oil and then spawns in some particles? Also the plant would only ba able to grow on the island specified in the books, i cant remember which one though...

It was sharktooth island or something, but yes I think particles might work as a way of showing it. We can even use the green poison particle!
