Wait first-stage dragons are going to be invisible?? That makes no sense! Or do you mean that you are just going to make the spirit-carriers invisible and the bat dragon texture will remain the same? Also, would you just add a value to the bat metadata that allows the server to choose between two different AI's if it is a dragon or if it is a spirit? Oops, I should have elaborated. The bat-dragons-that-carry-xp-orbs-as-spirits will be invisible. Bats that are dragons will not :-) That's what I figured. But what about the AI?

All possible! if bat has effect "invisibility" and has an XP orb riding it do the spirit AI else do the dragon hatchling AI

And wouldn't it be more efficient to just give the bat entity another bit of data (0 or 1) that is used in determining what type of bat it is? Faster to look up one value than two properties.
